Africa Open University Co-Convenes International Dialogue on the Digital Future of Cultural and Arts Education in Africa

Africa Open University (AOU) co-convened the international dialogue “UNESCO International Arts Education Week in Africa” during UNESCO Culture and Arts Education Week (25–31 May 2026) under the theme “Openness · Heritage · Innovation: The Digital Future of Cultural and Arts Education in Africa.” The event brought together scholars, educators, cultural practitioners, youth representatives, and institutional partners to discuss how Open Educational Resources, digital innovation, and international cooperation can support cultural and arts education in Africa. Speakers from Liberia, Ghana, Kenya, China, and other regions emphasized the importance of preserving African cultural heritage, strengthening youth participation, and using technology responsibly to support inclusive and sustainable education.

AOU Supports International Academic Exchange on Agricultural Technology Innovation and Cooperation

On 11 January 2026, Africa Open University (AOU) supported the International Academic Exchange Conference on Agricultural Technology Innovation and Cooperation as a co-organizing institution alongside the Liberia Academy of Sciences and the International Academic Organizations Alliance. The online event brought together international experts to discuss agricultural technology innovation, clean energy, biotechnology, and cross-regional cooperation. LAS and AOU Establish Strategic Cooperation to Explore a New Model of Open Education in Africa

Africa Open University (AOU) and the Liberia Academy of Sciences (LAS) have reached a strategic cooperation understanding to jointly support open learning, capacity development, scientific exchange, and educational innovation in Africa. The partnership will promote a practical, partnership-driven model of open education, beginning with Liberia and gradually expanding across the continent, with a focus on youth development, professional learning, scientific dialogue, digital education resources, and institutional capacity building. LAS will provide intellectual support and scientific guidance for AOU's long-term development, while AOU continues to build an inclusive platform for African learners, young professionals, researchers, and partner institutions. This cooperation marks an important step in AOU's mission to explore a new pathway for open education in Africa — one that is flexible, accessible, collaborative, and responsive to the needs of African societies.
