Africa Open University (AOU) Holds Board Meeting to Discuss Strategic Development and Priority Programs
On June 11, 2026, Africa Open University (AOU) held an online board meeting presided over by Secretary General David B. Kolleh, with opening remarks from Board Chairman Emmanuel Fred. Participants reviewed the university’s development orientation and listened to the 2026–2028 Three-Year Accelerated Action Plan proposed by Mr. Liwei Zheng, Executive Vice Chairman and Director of the International Cooperation Center. They deliberated on key priority programs covering digital learning resources, youth training networks, renewable energy training, local trainer cultivation and domestic & international educational partnerships. The university plans to optimize governance, digital platforms and global cooperation to deliver inclusive open education for African learners and youth.
Africa Open University (AOU) held an online meeting of its Board of Directors on June 11, 2026, to discuss the institution’s next-stage development, governance improvement, international cooperation, and priority programs.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. David B. Kolleh, Secretary General of AOU. Dr. Emmanuel Fred, Board Chairman of AOU and President of the Liberia Academy of Sciences, delivered opening remarks and emphasized the importance of strengthening AOU’s role in open education, youth capacity building, science education and international cooperation for Africa.
During the meeting, Board members exchanged views on AOU’s development direction, available resources, institutional partnerships and practical steps for implementation. Mr. Liwei presented the AOU Three-Year Accelerated Action Plan for 2026–2028, focusing on digital learning, open educational resources, training programs, international partnerships and youth development.
The Board discussed several priority areas, including the AOU Learner Center, the Open Resource Library, the Global Talent Certificate Program (GTC Program) micro-training pilot, the Pan-African Youth Fellows Network, renewable energy technology training, enterprise talent development, local trainer development, and cooperation with educational institutions in Liberia and international partners.
AOU will continue to strengthen its governance, digital platform, training programs and international cooperation network, with the aim of supporting African learners, youth, institutions and communities through open, practical and inclusive education initiatives.
