AOU Co-Organizes Roundtable Dialogue among Young Scientists in China and Africa in Wuhan: Registration and Cooperation Calls Now Open

Africa Open University (AOU) will co-organize the Roundtable Dialogue among Young Scientists in China and Africa Dialogue on 11 November 2026 in Wuhan. Registration is open until 25 October, alongside a public consultation on the Wuhan Action Initiative and a call for research collaboration needs by 31 October. AOU Fellows and partners are invited to register, comment on the draft, or submit project opportunities.

Building Information Resilience in Africa: Media Literacy, Misinformation and Governance in the Age of AI

Africa Open University (AOU), in collaboration with the Liberia Academy of Sciences (LAS), the International Academic Organizations Alliance (IAOA), and Beijing Talent Technology Co., Ltd., will host a free one-hour online event on 30 October 2026. Listed on UNESCO’s Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2026 global events page, the session will examine media literacy, misinformation, governance and artificial intelligence across Africa.

Africa Open University Joins the Greening Education Partnership

Africa Open University (AOU) has officially joined the Greening Education Partnership (GEP). As a Liberia-registered non-profit delivering non-degree open learning and capacity-building programmes, AOU will initially focus on Greening Curriculum, Greening Teacher Training and Education Systems’ Capacities, and Greening Communities. It plans to integrate these priorities into its capacity-building activities and Open Resource Library, participate in GEP meetings and working groups, and use the official GEP member visual identity in line with Partnership guidelines.

UNESCO International Arts Education Week in Africa — regional dialogue on 27 May 2026 under the theme "Openness · Heritage · Innovation: The Digital Future of Cultural and Arts Education in Africa"

The Africa Open University (AOU) and partner institutions will convene a regional dialogue during UNESCO International Arts Education Week 2026 on 27 May 2026 in a hybrid format (online and in-person) in Monrovia, Liberia, with free registration for participants. The dialogue is intended as a platform for exchange among stakeholders from academia, public institutions, cultural sectors, and youth communities. It will explore how digital technologies and Open Educational Resources (OER) can support the preservation, transmission, and accessibility of Africa's cultural and artistic heritage, in line with the theme "Openness · Heritage · Innovation: The Digital Future of Cultural and Arts Education in Africa."
