Mokhele Stephen Moletsane
Mokhele Stephen Moletsane is a public leader, educator and national development practitioner from the Kingdom of Lesotho, with extensive experience in parliamentary leadership, ministerial administration, education policy, public works, justice, home affairs, community engagement and national development.
He is currently a doctoral candidate in Theoretical Economics, with a focus on National Development Studies, at the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development, Peking University, China. He also holds a Master of Science in International Business from the University of Nottingham Ningbo China, and a Bachelor of Education from the National University of Lesotho, where he majored in English Language and Literature.
Mokhele has served as a Member of the Parliament of Lesotho and held several senior public offices, including Deputy Minister of Public Works and Transport, Minister of Education and Training, Minister of Justice and Correctional Service, and Minister of Home Affairs. In these roles, he contributed to public policy leadership, government administration, parliamentary engagement, service delivery and international representation on behalf of the Kingdom of Lesotho.
His earlier professional experience includes teaching at Holy Family High School in Leribe, serving as Ministerial Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Natural Resources, supporting the Lesotho Lowlands Water Project as Senior Community Liaison Officer, and working with Oxford University Press Lesotho in educational publishing and learning materials promotion.
His work connects education, governance, public administration, infrastructure, community engagement, national development and international cooperation. With his combined experience in education, public service and China-based development studies, he brings valuable perspectives to AOU’s mission of promoting open learning, youth capacity building and practical development pathways for Africa.
As a Founding Fellow of the AOU Pan-African Youth Fellows Network, Mokhele may contribute to AOU’s youth and capacity-building work by supporting public leadership dialogue, education policy exchange, national development studies, youth mentorship, GTC Program awareness, Southern Africa network building and future training activities related to governance, education, public administration and community-based development.
